Zalgiris will wear special uniforms for the EuroLeague game against Virtus 0

On March 19, a special evening awaits the spectators gathered at Zalgirio Arena. Not only will the EuroLeague game against Bologna Virtus be played in Kaunas, but also the 25th anniversary of Zalgiris Kaunas becoming EuroLeague champions will be celebrated.

To celebrate the anniversary, Zalgiris players will be wearing special jerseys inspired by the design of the 1999 jerseys.

“We have already had a chance to try on the jerseys we will be wearing in the match against Virtus. New outfits are always interesting. I’m glad that we will have the opportunity to play in exclusive festive jerseys and thus be able to touch the 1999 win. That final game is one of the first basketball memories that stayed in my mind,” said Zalgiris Kaunas captain Edgaras Ulanovas.

The match against Virtus was not chosen by chance for the celebration of the EuroLeague champions. It was this club, which at the time used the name Kinder, that Zalgiris met in the final game of the 1999 Final Four in Munich.

In that season, Kinder Bologna was the defending EuroLeague champions and was considered the favorite for the final against Zalgiris, a team making its EuroLeague debut. However, Zalgiris players were already used to this kind of evaluation and beat their Italian rivals 82-74 in the final game.

Zalgirio Arena will also host an exclusive team presentation and a EuroLeague Champions Cup display, while members of the 1999 championship team will be watching the game against Virtus from the stands.

In addition, Proflame, one of the most famous Lithuanian rap artists of today, will give a special performance during the game’s halftime break.
