Zalgiris ends the week with the win in Siauliai 1

Zalgiris Kaunas (20-2) continues its confident run in the Betsafe-LKL Championship. Andrea Trinchieri’s team finished the week with a 92-69 (28-19, 19-15, 19-23, 26-12) win over Siauliai (5-17) on the road.

Laurynas Birutis started the game with a lay-up, Edmond Sumner dunked it home, and Dovydas Giedraitis and Brady Manek each hit a three-pointer to make it 10-2. Manek and Danielius Lavrinovicius drove inside, Edgaras Ulanovas, Tomas Dimsa and Keenan Evans scored three points each, and Birutis added five more points, 28-19.

Only Birutis scored two points in the first four minutes of the second quarter, and the opponents took advantage of it to get closer, 30-28. Then Sumner answered with seven points, Kevarrius Hayes scored two, Manek hit a three-pointer and Evans scored five points to make it 47-34.

After the break, Evans and Sumner scored a three-pointer each, Birutis slammed it with one hand, but the opponents spurted again and the difference was reduced to 49-55. Dimsa flashed with two long-range shots, Ulanovas hit a three-pointer, and Sumner finished the quarter with two points, 66-57.

Manek made two three-pointers, Hayes scored four points from under the basket and the difference grew again, 76-62. Hayes scored four more points, Birutis added two more, and Lukas Lekavicius and Giedraitis scored five points apiece at the end of the game to make it 92-69.

Sumner and Manek were the leading scorers with 14 points apiece. Birutis added 13, Evans had 11 and Hayes tallied 10 points.
