Zalgiris Kaunas signed promising Latvian playmaker Kaspars Vecvagars to a multi-year deal on Wednesday. The deal is for three seasons, but Zalgiris has options that could keep him in green through 2015.

He will play in Zalgiris junior team next season.

Vecvagars (190, 17) comes off a breakout summer in which he helped the Latvian national team to a bronze medal at the European Under-18 Championship in Lithuania.

Vecvagars averaged 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4 assists per game in Lithuania.

The previous summer, Vecvagars was among the top 10 in scoring (16.3 ppg.), rebounds (7.3 rpg.) and assists (3.9 apg.) at the U-16 European Championship.
