Zalgiris replaces Iran in Lithuanian NT friendly 0
The Iranian national team will not be coming to Lithuanian for a couple of friendly games after all. However, team Lithuania has found a new opponent for the game in Kaunas – the local side Zalgiris will help out the national side.
“The Iranian Basketball Federation had officially confirmed that their team would come to Lithuania. We sorted out the problems they had with visas, we did everything we could for them to make it,” said the General Secretary of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF).
However, after being late to apply for visas, the Iranians didn’t buy the plane tickets in time as well and so putting the whole deal off.
Zalgiris also had to play a game against Iran but it turns out they’ll have to face the Lithuanian national team with four of Zalgiris players – Mantas Kalnietis, Paulius Jankunas, Tadas Klimavicius and Martynas Pocius.
