Jankunas – the new captain of Zalgiris 0
Paulius Jankunas, who returned to Kaunas after a year‘s break, has been chosen as the new captain of Zalgiris and will replace Dainius Salenga in this role.
Such a decision was made during a team meeting. The new captain admits that this honor comes with responsibilities.
“It’s really nice. I’ve come back after a one year break, but the team still believes and trusts in me. I’ll try not to let down the guys and our fans,” said Jankunas.
Salenga had to deal with the captaincy duties last year. However, Jankunas makes it clear that he didn’t attempt to take over himself.
“What does it mean to be the captain? First of all, it’s a great responsibility, especially in a team like Zalgiris. One has to be always ready to help out in every possible way – hear everybody out, give some advice and just understand everyone in general,” the new captain of Zalgiris explained. “I’m proud to have received such an honor and I promise to always give my best.”
