Zalgiris wins the Lithuanian League title! 0

Zalgiris Kaunas ran past Neptunas Klaipeda 90-70 on Friday to win its fourth straight Lithuanian League championship. Zalgiris won the best-of-seven finals 4-2.

The hosts in Kaunas built a 10-point lead after 10 minutes with points from 6 players. Sarunas Jasikevicius made pinpoint pass to dunking Arturas Gudaitis and finished first quarter with 5 points of his own – 27-17.

Martynas Pocius with his 7th points and Paulius Jankunas with 2 layups kept the teams apart at 10 points margin. Later Jasikevicius made two lob passes to Robertas Javtokas who rocked the rim with the dunks (40-29). Justin Dentmon finished the half with 7 straight to give Zalgiris 47-35 lead.

Points by Javtokas, Pocius and Tadas Klimavicius raised the gap to 17 points – 61-44. Neptunas got closer (50-61), but Gudaitis and Jankunas made it back to 66-52 after the 3 quarters.

Jasikevicius with his 8th assist to Javtokas and soaring dunk by Pocius raised Zalgiris arena roof – 72-57. Later it was Arturas Milaknis who stole the show. He scored his all 10 points in a row and Neptunas was swept away. Zalgiris won 90-70 and took Lithuanian League trophy!
