Ulanovas, Vene, Lipkevicius and Vecvagars stay in Zalgiris 0

Zalgiris Kaunas is continuing building the team for the next season. Edgaras Ulanovas, Siim-Sander Vene, Vytenis Lipkevicius and Kaspars Vecavagars are staying in Lithuanian champions team.

Lipkevicius has signed a two-year contract, while Vecvagars has landed a new, one-year deal with a team option of extension up to the end of the 2016-17 season. Zalgiris has retained its option to keep forwards Edgaras Ulanovas and Siim-Sander Vene for another year. In the other hand, similar contracts were not re-signed with Tomas Dimsa and Donatas Tarolis.

“I played in Zalgiris the biggest part of my career. In the beginning I played in the youth team, now in the main team. It is interesting to remember myself from those old times. I see big differences. Now I work more with my head, I am a lot of stronger in a physical way,” told Lipkevicius. He is going to play in Zalgiris his fifth season.

The second season in the main team is going to start for Ulanovas. He spent a lot of time training with national student team and competed in South Korea, where the World Universiade was held.

“Now I am resting after a performance with students team, but after one week I am going to start training individually for the new season,” said Ulanovas.

A lot of work is waiting for Vecvagars and Vene. They are candidates to the Latvia and Estonia national teams.

“It is a pleasure to stay in a team where I grow up as a player. The last two seasons were not easy to me, but now I am looking in the future and thanking to Zalgiris for the second chance. Zalgiris is my team,” said Vecvagars, who just recovered after an injury.

Vene should be a leader in Estonia national team.

“The same as Lithunia we are preparing for the European Championship. It is going to be very interesting to try to play against Lithuania because I know a lot of players of your national team. The practice with my country team is going to be a good preparation for a new season with Zalgiris,” told Siim-Sander Vene.

On September Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are going to be in the same group in European Championship.
