#TimeOutZalgiris celebrating the centenary of the Lithuanian Armed Forces 0

Last Friday evening a nearly sold-out Zalgirio Arena witnessed another EuroLeague thriller. Gameday against Khimki coincided with another day of celebration in Lithuania, as we marked the centenary of the restoration of Lithuanian Armed Forces.

Traditionally, #TimeOutZalgiris host Dalia Belickaite was to be seen in every corner of the arena, talking to fans and visiting guests. Dalia managed to track down singer and songwriter Linas Adomaitis, who is also the author of three Zalgiris anthems.

“All three times, I received an offer from Zalgiris to write an anthem for the club. We sat down with the team and were just trying to think of what the best way would be to do it, what would represent Zalgiris. So perhaps what stuck best was the legendary chant All the Zalgiris fans.”

Belickaite also took it upon herself to figure out what roles in the military the fans would assign to each of the players. It was a one-man race when it came to selecting the sniper, as Arturas Milaknis was the designated man there.

Fans were adamant that Antanas Kavaliauskas and Brandon Davies would make the best tankers, although they could have trouble fitting inside the cabin. Fans said that they’d outsource aerial support from Aaron White Airlines, as White was chosen to be the go-to fighter pilot.
