White highlights importance of battle in the paint vs Darussafaka 1

Zalgiris faces yet another challenge in the EuroLeague, as they made their way to Istanbul to take on Darussafaka on Wednesday evening. Zalgiris big man Aaron White shared his thoughts on the upcoming game with Zalgiris TV.

“We don’t really look at their record. It’s more about their games and they’ve all been close at home. They just got a new coach, a new system. We have to be ready for that and play for the win.”

Despite the poor start to the EuroLeague season, the Istanbul side boasts a frontcourt of Jeremy Evans and Micheal Eric, capable of battling against anybody.

“They’re a really good offensive rebounding team. They have a lot of bigs that are crashing the glass and scoring in the paint. It’s something we’ll have to take care of, but it’s one of our strengths, too. We’ll be playing down low, trying to get to the free-throw line, trying to rebound the ball and use their size against them with our pick-and-rolls.”

Zagiris will once again have to deal with a shorter bench, as both Paulius Jankunas and Nate Wolters have been sidelined with injuries and stayed in Kaunas. The tip-off is set for 19:15 (GMT+2) this Wednesday evening, as Zalgiris aims to rake in their sixth win to help them climb up the standings.
