Ulanovas before Olympiacos game: “I expect it to be hot in the arena” 0

The race for the EuroLeague Play-offs continues, as Zalgiris looks to stand trial in their biggest test of the season so far, going up against Olympiacos.

Olympiacos will surely have some hard feeling towards the Lithuanians, since Zalgiris was the team to knock out the Greeks from the Quarter-Finals last season.

Edgaras Ulanovas shared some thoughts on the upcoming battle, that will help decide the fate of the final tickets to the EuroLeague Play-offs.

“It’s difficult to play here. Not even talking about last year, but we expect a similar kind of support this time. There’s a lot at stake here for both teams, so I’d imagine it will be hot in the arena.”

It became clear on Thursday evening that Olympiacos will have to deal without two of their point guards, Vassilis Spanoulis and Janis Strelnieks. According to Ulanovas, they’re still incredibly dangerous, especially playing at home.

“Anyone can take the reigns. Especially at home. Leday plays well on the home court, Milutinov, Printezis are high caliber players. Their guards, the newcomer Weber are also dangerous. He gives the team a lot. We’re not thinking about it too much, whether they’re going to play. There’s just too much at stake, and the others will pick up a level or two.”

The match-up between Zalgiris and Olympiacos is set to tip off on Friday, 9:30 PM GMT+2.
