Thompson and Grigonis signify concentration for Madrid game 0

Madrid’s Wizink Center will host the final game of Zalgiris’ EuroLeague regular season, with a ticket to the Top 8 still on the line. Deon Thompson and Marius Grigonis shared their thoughts on the upcoming match-up against Real with Zalgiris TV.

Thompson noted that a lot will come down to the focus that they show on the court.

“We’re pretty focused and we understand what we’re playing for tomorrow. The most important thing is that we continue to focus on us and making sure we are all accountable and ready to do our jobs and our part when we step on the floor.”

Marius Grigonis has faced Real several times playing in the Spanish league and recalled the sweetest victories against the EuroLeague powerhouse.

“The most memorable one was when we won here while I was playing for survival in the league with Manresa. Real had just won the EuroLeague and the next week we beat them. We dropped like 20 three-pointers on them, so those were the best memories. We managed to beat them with Tenerife, too. That’s it, not that many victories so far, but they were very sweet.”

Speaking of tonight’s match-up, Grigonis highlighted the pace of their opponents.

“We can’t let them run, we’ve got to control their guards. We have to play tough, since they like playing without contact. That gets them rolling. We all know how those Spanish guys are. They’ve got a lot of talent, so we’ve got to guard aggressively, and put them in uncomfortable positions.”

The match-up between Real and Zalgiris will tip off at 10 PM GMT+2.
