Jasikevicius: “We can’t have ALBA running off in transition” 1

Zalgiris is set for its Round 11 EuroLeague matchup against ALBA Berlin, and it’s already clear that the team will have to do without a key player in Marius Grigonis. Sarunas Jasikevicius confirmed that the guard will not be travelling with the team to Berlin.

“Grigonis isn’t coming to Berlin. We’ll see, we don’t have any definitive information or timeframes, or what’s going to happen.”

Jasikevicius noted ALBA’s fast breaks as a point of emphasis, and mentioned that they will always have to play smart on offense.

“We need to limit our mistakes, so they can’t run off in the fast break. We also need to pick out our matchups accordingly quickly and just stop their transition.”

Lithuanian swingman Rokas Giedraitis has been one of the go-to scorers for the German side, playing his career season so far. Speaking of his role on the team, Jasikevicius pointed out that he fits well with the opponents’ style.

“You know, like everyone. Shoot spot-up shots, running in transition, and using his quickness. He’s playing the same brand of basketball that he’s always played.”

The coach was happy with the way the team’s newcomer K.C. Rivers was adjusting to the team and brought up the veteran’s experience as a key factor in that.

“He’s a veteran, a guy who’s been through thick and thin, so it’s much easier for him to enter the system. Of course, he still needs to work on his condition, push it towards a EuroLeague level, understand what we want from him even more. We don’t expect quick results, but he’ll help.”

If you do not have Grigonis at rosters and Leday scores only 15 points, you do not have change to win at Berlin. They are trying to play Golden State basketbol and scores low points at Zalgiris game. http://www.konubasketbol.com
