Nigel Hayes talks about the inspirational legacy of Kobe Bryant 0

On Sunday evening the basketball world received tragic news, as NBA superstar Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash alongside his daughter and 7 other people.

The basketball world reacted very sensitively to it, as did members of Zalgiris. One of them was Nigel Hayes, who had the chance speak face to face with the legend during his studies.

“He was the reason why in college, going into sophomore year, I would wake up at 4:52 in the morning, so I could go work out. If Kobe does it, I for sure should be able to do it. To be able to say to him in person that he made me a better baketball player even though I had never met him. He signed my jersey, a pair of shoes, which I will treasure for my life now.”

According to the Zalgiris man, Kobe’s work ethic will be the lasting legacy that he leaves behind.

“Everyone always talks about how it and knows how hard of a worker he is. But you see that bleed over into other sports, and sometimes not even sports.  He inspird many people not only in basketball to work as hard as you can, and never let the next person outwork you.”

Zalgiris sports director Robertas Javtokas shared his thoughts on the tragic event moments earlier.
