Augustine Rubit checks in for his first interview in green 0

After joining Zalgiris Kaunas this summer, Augustine Rubit is already getting ready for his debut in green-and-white. After going through the quarantine period, the big man is sweating it out in practice alongside his new teammates.

After one of the first practices, Zalgiris TV sat down with the team’s newcomer for his first interview.

Rubit noted the strength of the team’s frontcourt, with special attention to the team’s captain Paulius Jankunas.

“I think it’s a great frontcourt. Just having those guys, they’re amazing guys, tough players. Guys we can learn off each other. I’m happy to come in be able to play with a guy like Jankunas. He’s won it all, he’s a Top-5 rebounder of all-time. It’s an honor to play with him.”

Rubit already has experience in the EuroLeague, having played for Brose Bamberg before joining Olympiacos last season. The 30-year-old noted that he brings a lot of everything to the table with his all-around play.

“I bring versatility. I can play the four or five, I can guard on switches, score in the low post, make some shots, play some defense.”

The big man comes to Kaunas with the fans looking to cheer for him, not against him for the first time, and he’s looking forward to the season.

“The fans are crazy here, the arena is always packed and there’s a lot of energy here. Some might remember me, some might not, but this is a new beginning and I just want to give my all, and enjoy this year with the fans.”
