#ZalgirisOnAir meets Joffrey Lauvergne 1

In the 39th episode of #ZalgirisOnAir, Zalgiris TV brought out the team’s only Frenchman Joffrey Lauvergne. In the hour-long conversation, the show’s host Rytis Kazlauskas had the big man talking about everything from history to basketball.

Lauvergne revealed that he knows a thing or two about Lithuanian history, having read books on it.

“I’ve read a book in French about the 1000 years of Lithuanian history. It all started basically with Mindaugas there. There were a couple pages of what happened before, but then it moved on to all the kings and until our days. It was really interesting. I arrived way before to start preseason. I did a little tour of Lithuania, visited Palanga, Nida, Trakai, Vilnius. I really liked it and I had to learn a little bit about the history.”

The athlete spent some of his greatest years in Belgrade, representing Partizan alongside a lot of young players. Lauvergne revealed an interesting fact about then-coach Dusko Vujosevic.

“He would ask some players keys of their apartment because he wanted to check if they were sleeping, not going out. But at the end, I think he was really right, because it’s really easy to lose your mind.”

Joffrey also talked about his friendship with former Zalgiris man Leo Westermann, his experience in the NBA, signing with Zalgiris, and many other topics in between.
