Zalgiris Insider talks with Marko Guduric 0

Marko Guduric made a mid-season transfer to Fenerbahce and returned to the club after a year in the NBA, and was a big part as to why the Turkish giant made the final push towards the EuroLeague Play-offs.

Known as a 3-and-D guy, Guduric joined #EuroleagueTalks for a conversation available to Zalgiris Insiders.

Guduric opened up about his first Final Four in the 2017-2018 season, where they faced off against Sarunas Jasikevicius’ Zalgiris.

“I remember I knew every set play of Zalgiris. Every single one. Our preparation was something else. The preparation for the Playoffs and Final Four games in general was crazy – so many details and so many film sessions. It was crazy. Personally, I was really nervous – it was my first Final Four. I wasn’t in very good shape either.”

Even without a bigger input from Guduric, Fenerbahce managed to down Zalgiris, but failed to overcome Luka Doncic’s Real Madrid in the Final.

The very next season, the Serbian was a huge factor in Fenerbahce’s Quarter-Finals series against Zalgiris, averaging 13 points to guide his team to a 3-1 win.

“That was one of my favorite Playoffs series. I remember we were the number one seed, Zalgiris was number eight. We won the first game by 30 or 40, and then game two we lost. The picture I have in my head until this day was game three and 12-13-14 thousand people all wearing green t-shirts. I remember being super locked in.”

Marko Guduric also talked about his former Memphis Grizzlies teammate Jonas Valanciunas, his veteran leadership and fishing in Orlando.

The 50-minute conversation with Marko Guduric is available to the MVP plan subscribers on the Zalgiris Insider platform, where he openly talked about the up-and-down season with Fenerbahce, his career, and answered a number of entertaining questions from his face-offs against Lithuanians.
