Zalgiris players make their jersey number selections 1

As start of training camp gets closer by the day, Zalgiris’ rookies have made their selections for their jersey numbers in the upcoming season.

Having returned to the team after a while, both Mantas Kalnietis and Edgaras Ulanovas remained loyal to their previous numbers. Kalnietis’ number 9 and Ulanovas’ number 92 are set to continue exciting fans this year.

Tyler Cavanaugh found his usual jersey number free, as he looks to don a ‘34’ on his back. The American wore the number 34 jersey both in college and during his professional career

Meanwhile, Janis Strelnieks wasn’t as fortunate to pick his favorite number. Having worn a number 13 jersey in recent years, the Latvian didn’t make any claims towards the captain Paulius Jankunas’ jersey and decided to return to number 32, which he wore earlier in his career.

This had an impact on Josh Nebo’s choice, as he will make the switch from 32 that he’s worn for the last few years, to number 7.

Niels Giffey would have chosen a number 5 jersey, but since it has been retired to the rafters of Zalgirio Arena in honor of Modestas Paulauskas, the German decided to double-up and go with 55.

The returning players made no changes to their jersey selections, as Marek Blazevic will continue wearing number 1, Lukas Lekavicius – number 4, Paulius Jankunas stays with the devil’s dozen with number 13. Karolis Lukosiunas sticks to number 16, Mantas Rubstavicius – 17, Arturas Milaknis – 21, Joffrey Lauvergne – 77.
