Zalgiris Kaunas basketball players became cup champions last weekend, and this Wednesday they return to EuroLeague competition, where they will face the challenge of Olympiacos Piraeus.

Ignas Brazdeikis, who wore the Olympiacos jersey in the 2023-2024 season, shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming game.

“It feels really good – we put in a lot of work to win the cup. It’s the midpoint of the season, maybe a little more than halfway. We worked hard, so it was fun to celebrate on the bus. We played music and enjoyed the moment, everyone had a good time,” Brazdeikis recalled the weekend’s triumph.

The Zalgiris player also recalled the first round match in Piraeus, where Zalgiris didn’t stand much of a chance, 78-95.

“I think we weren’t physical enough, and they took advantage of that. We also missed a lot of shots, which never helps, especially against a team like Olympiacos. Physicality will be the key aspect of this game,” emphasized Brazdeikis.

The guard also spoke about the specifics of playing against their upcoming opponents.

“They are a very talented team that poses a threat in every position. As I said, the main thing we will try to use to stop them is physicality and smart fouls. At the same time, we will have to play smart – choose the right shots, play patiently, and be physical,” Brazdeikis listed the key details.
