Zalgiris Kaunas has welcomed a player returning to the team after a break. The team signed a 2-year contract with Ignas Brazdeikis.

The 25-year-old 201 cm tall all-rounder returns to Kaunas after spending last season with Olympiacos Piraeus. Brazdeikis joined the Greek club on the eve of the 2023-2024 season.

“Ignas doesn’t really need any introduction to Zalgiris fans. First of all, it is very pleasing that when the opportunity arose, Ignas himself was eager to return to Zalgiris and prove that the past season did not reflect his true potential. We know that Iggy is highly motivated and ready to show the best version of himself to the club and the fans,” commented Gediminas Navickas, Zalgiris GM.

Brazdeikis played 27 games in the EuroLeague for Olympiacos, averaging 2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.7 efficiency points in almost 11 minutes on the floor.

With Olympiacos, he won the Greek Basketball Cup and lost to Panathinaikos Athens in the league finals.

Brazdeikis joined Zalgiris for the 2022-2023 season for the first time in his career. He was a key part of a successful season in the EuroLeague, scoring 11.6 points, grabbing 2.9 rebounds and collecting 8.8 efficiency points. The Kaunas-born, Canadian-raised player helped the Zalgiris to qualify for the EuroLeague playoffs that season.

He started his professional career in the NBA, where he made his debut in the 2019-2020 season with the New York Knicks. He continued with the Knicks during the 2020-2021 season, but then switched to the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic. He spent the 2021-2022 season with the Magic.
