Zalgiris Kaunas players are facing their second week of the EuroLeague season, with both games to be played away from home. On Tuesday, Zalgiris will meet ASVEL in Villeurbanne, and then travel to Milan, where they will face EA7 Emporio Armani on Thursday.
Dustin Sleva shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming double-round week.
“I remember the first game against ASVEL,” said Sleva, referring to the 96-59 win at Zalgirio Arena on October 30. “We were very strong on defense, and when we’re strong on defense, the offense comes naturally. I think it’s important to stop our opponents and take advantage of situations in fast breaks after good defense.”
With 6 wins and 16 losses, ASVEL players share 18th-20th place in the EuroLeague. Zalgiris is in ninth place with a 12-10 record.
“ASVEL has a lot of good players. Although they are at the bottom of the standings, they are fighting with all their might. I’ve watched a few of their games, and they are not a team that gives up. They take to the court with nothing to lose,” said Sleva, looking ahead to the upcoming match with a sense of responsibility.
