Zalgiris Kaunas lost Game 4 of the EuroLeague playoffs to Fenerbahce Istanbul, and after the game, team captain Edgaras Ulanovas shared his thoughts.

“We tried, we fought, and in the end it all came down to small details. There was a chance both to win and to lose, but we stayed in the fight until the very end. I don’t know, I can’t really say anything smart right now,” said the Zalgiris player.

Ulanovas also commented on Fenerbahce’s final possession in the fourth quarter, when Wade Baldwin’s shot forced overtime.

“We followed the plan. Everything was as it should have been – the ball just bounced unfortunately. Nigel did everything right; there was no way he could have boxed out in time. All of us had to take responsibility because they crash the boards well. That’s how it happened,” Ulanovas explained.

Finally, the captain highlighted the support of the fans throughout the season.

“It’s truly impressive. On a global level, it’s probably hard to find an atmosphere like this. I know a lot of players and staff from other teams, even referees have said that this arena is the most impressive because the people here understand basketball, the fight, and the passion. Elsewhere, the atmosphere can be good, but it’s different – here there is great respect. They support us even after losses if they see we fought, and that’s fantastic. This season they were a huge part of what we achieved – finishing fifth in the EuroLeague – so a big thank you to all the fans who filled the arena all season,” said Ulanovas.
