Kauno Žalgiris extended their good streak in the Lithuanian championship and defeated the national champions Panevėžys away with a score of 2:1.

The start of the match was tragic for Kauno Žalgiris – home team scored already in the fourth minute of the match, when Noel Mbo put the ball past Deividas Mikelionis.

Looking for opportunities in counterattacks, Kauno Žalgiris found the best opportunity in the first half after half an hour and turned it into a goal. Artūr Dolžnikov raided almost the entire field, passed to Filip Dangubiči, who sent the ball into the goal net - 1:1.

In the first half Panevėžys had several more dangerous episodes, but Deividas Mikelionis saved all the shots.

After the break, there was an even fight, but everything changed when Panevėžys player played with his hand in his own penalty area after a pass from Gratas Sirgėdas. Vilius Armanavičius scored a penalty - 2:1.

After the goal, Kauno Žalgiris was forced to finish the match in the minority, as Gratas Sirgėdas was shown a second yellow card.
