Zalgiris Kaunas topped visiting FC Barcelona 83-71 in front of a sellout crowd at Zalgirio Arena in the EuroLeague Round 35. Zalgiris improved to 21-14 in the standings and is on a seven-game home winning streak while Barca dropped to 20-15.
Moses Wright led the winners with 18 points and 11 rebounds, good for a PIR of 28. Nigel Williams-Goss added 16 points, Sylvain Francisco had 14 and 8 assists while Arnas Butkevicius got 12 points for Zalgiris, which outrebounded its opponents 41-30.
Kevin Punter led Barca with 16 points. Jan Vesely added 14 while Toko Shengelia had 10 for the guests.
Zalgiris traded early baskets with Barcelona, with three‑pointers from Azuolas Tubelis and Wright helping the hosts stay close. Williams‑Goss added key drives and Wright scored late, giving Zalgiris a narrow 22-21 lead after first quarter.
Laurynas Birutis and Ignas Brazdeikis opened the scoring in the second period, but Barcelona briefly moved ahead during a short Zalgiris scoring drought. Late baskets from Wright, Tubelis, and Butkevicius kept the game tight at halftime, with Zalgiris trailing by just one, 39-40.
Zalgiris took control behind strong play from Williams‑Goss and Wright, while Butkevicius converted all three free throws. Francisco set up Wright for a powerful dunk, and Zalgiris entered the final quarter holding a slim 59-56 edge.
Francisco ignited the offense with clutch three‑pointers, joined by a corner triple from Brazdeikis to stretch the lead. Francisco hit two more threes late, while Tubelis and Giedraitis finished inside, sealing an impressive 83-71 home win.
