Zalgiris Kaunas guard Lonnie Walker IV is leaving the team. The American has exercised his contract termination clause and will move to the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA.

Zalgiris will receive a buyout for the player’s transfer to the NBA.

“We knew that the situation with Walker IV could have turned out this way, so it was not a surprise. Anyway, we thank Lonnie for his hard work and positive attitude. He contributed to the first trophy of the season, his game helped to create an amazing atmosphere in Zalgirio Arena and he was a great teammate. We wish him the best of luck in his NBA career,” said Gediminas Navickas, Zalgiris Kaunas GM. “At the same time, we have proved once again that Zalgiris is a great platform to help players rise to a higher level.”

He added that the club is looking for a new player to fill the vacancy.

Walker IV arrived in Lithuania at the beginning of November and has played 19 games in the EuroLeague. He averaged 13.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 11.3 EFF in 22 minutes.

In the Betsafe-LKL Championship, his stats in 17 minutes were 12.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 12.5 EFF.
