Zalgiris Kaunas suffered its second straight EuroLeague loss on Thursday night in Athens, falling to Panathinaikos 88-92. The team fought back from a 14‑point deficit in the fourth quarter but could not take the lead.
After the game, Maodo Lo – who scored 11 points – spoke about the reasons behind the defeat.
“Playing in this kind of atmosphere is not easy, and on top of that, they’re a high‑quality team with a lot of talent. It’s always difficult to win in Athens,” the German guard said.
Lo also commented on Cedi Osman, who set a new personal EuroLeague efficiency record.
“He’s very good in transition, his three‑point shot is deadly, so he’s a dangerous and high‑level player. He punished us in both games,” Lo noted.
For Panathinaikos, Mathias Lessort – returning from injury – made his first appearance of the season, scoring 9 points.
“He plays with a lot of energy and gives everything, which gives the team a boost. Even today he made an impact and played well. We played together in Munich, so I’m happy he’s healthy again, but of course it was unlucky for us that he returned exactly today and had such an influence. He’s a top‑level player, so you have to expect that,” Lo said about his former teammate.
Lo has now recorded double‑digit efficiency ratings in five straight games.
“It’s important to find your rhythm and get used to the system so you can play efficiently. I’m trying to help the team however I can. The season is long – there are ups and downs. We have a 12‑man rotation, so it’s not about any one of us individually. You have to contribute in any way you can, and I’m starting to feel the rhythm and find ways to help the team,” Lo added.
Next Friday, EuroLeague action returns to Kaunas, where Zalgiris will face Real Madrid.
