After a four-season break, 24-year-old Marek Blazevic will once again put on the Zalgiris Kaunas jersey.
A contract has been signed with the 211 cm tall player that will run until the end of the 2028-29 season under a “2+1” formula.
After finishing his previous stint in Kaunas, Blazevic moved to Spain, where he spent two seasons with Santiago de Compostela Obradoiro. In the 2024-25 season, the big man wore the Wolves Vilnius jersey and averaged 9.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 11.4 efficiency rating points in the EuroCup.
Last summer, Blazevic represented the Lithuanian national team at the Eurobasket, averaging 7.5 points and 4.8 rebounds.
In the 2025-26 season, Blazevic played in Turkey for Tofas Bursa, reaching the Basketball Champions League Round of 16. He was the team’s most valuable player, averaging 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds.
“I’m very happy that I’ve been given the opportunity to come back to Zalgiris for a second time. Not everyone gets second chances, so I hope I’ll be able to make the most of it. Now I’m returning as a real player, because the first time I was more like some kind of prospect. This time I’m coming back with stronger qualities and having gained experience abroad and in Lithuania, so I feel more solid and confidence. I’m simply looking forward to it,” Blazevic said in his first interview.
Zalgiris club president Paulius Jankunas also shared his thoughts about the newest addition.
“First of all, we should start with the fact that four years ago he was a completely different Marek than he is now. He came to Zalgiris as a young, very promising player, but he didn’t get much playing time and decided to leave. Last summer we watched him play for the Lithuanian national team, and it’s clear that he has grown a lot as a player and brings significant value. We know Marek’ character very well: what kind of fighter he is and how much energy he brings to the team” said Jankunas.
