Zalgiris Kaunas will begin a double-round EuroLeague week facing AS Monaco at home. Ahead of the upcoming match, Nigel Williams-Goss, who has returned to the team, spoke about his opponents, former teammates, and record-breaking cold weather.

“Of course, I felt the cold. I’ve never experienced anything like it, so it’s really crazy cold,” the foreign player commented on the Lithuanian weather in recent days.

Williams-Goss returned to the court on Sunday in a game against Jonava, where he played for 14 minutes and made 10 assists.

“I felt good. Of course, three weeks have passed, and I’ve been training with restrictions, so I felt that I needed time to get back into the rhythm. I’m glad to be back – there’s nothing worse than being injured, so I”m happy to be back,” replied the Zalgiris player.

Luca Vildoza, a former teammate of Williams-Goss at Olympiacos, secured his team’s victory over AS Monaco with a decisive shot in the last round, and the Zalgiris player shared that he congratulated the Italian.

“We definitely talked about his game-winning shot – I was very happy for him. We didn’t talk about the upcoming game against him because every game is different, so we have to watch the video ourselves, prepare a game plan and execute it,” said Williams-Goss.

The head coach of the future opponents, Vassilis Spanoulis, was also a teammate of Williams Goss during the 2018–2019 season.

“It’s always fun to play against him and his teams. As you said, he was my teammate, so now it’s great to see his evolution in the role of head coach, and I always wish him the best of luck,” the guard said nicely.

Spanoulis is not the only familiar face to Williams-Goss at AS Monaco, as the Zalgiris player has known the opposing team’s leader, Mike James, since childhood.

“It’s really incredible because Mike and I are from the same city, so I’ve known Mike since I was about 13 years old. I’ve known him for a long time, so it’s amazing to see his success. He’s a guy who stood out from an early age and has really made a name for himself, and I'm always happy to play against him because it brings out the best in me,” said the Zalgiris player about the opposing team’s leader.

The match between Zalgiris and AS Monaco will begin this Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Zalgirio Arena.
