Zalgiris TV presents the fourth episode of this season’s “After Practice”, featuring host Egle Jurgaityte, along with Dustin Sleva and Moses Wright enjoying a Lithuanian-style lunch at the Sala restaurant in Zalgirio Arena.
The players not only tasted traditional Lithuanian dishes such as fried bread, cold beet soup, cepelinai, and many others, but also shared stories about their childhood memories, hobbies outside basketball, and handed out season awards to their teammates and other EuroLeague players.
“You’re telling me this is chicken in jelly, and next to it is Lithuanian wasabi? Honestly, I’ve already eaten way too much,” Wright joked, clearly unimpressed with the traditional cold meat dish (aspic) and horseradish.
Meanwhile, Sleva tried everything in small portions and said he has not yet found a Lithuanian dish he would never want to try again.
After their meal, the players attempted to pronounce the Lithuanian tongue twister “geri vyrai geroj girioj gerą girą gėrė,” and Sleva shared a story about getting into a fight at school.
“I never really got into much trouble because I was afraid of my dad, but I did get into a fight – that’s why my nose is crooked. I lost that one. They were teasing me, and I thought I could take him on, but I was smaller than everyone else at the time, even though I was doing boxing. I tried to throw a right hand and missed, and he hit me back with his. I never told anyone, and now my nose is crooked,” Sleva recalled with a smile.
Wright also shared that he had been suspended a few times during his school years, while Sleva, after giving nicknames to all his teammates, revealed a humorous one given to Wright as well.
Later, Wright and Sleva talked about their first impressions of each other when they learned they would become teammates. Jurgaityte also shared her own first-date experiences, while Wright spoke about his LEGO collection.
To wrap things up, the players took part in a couple of games, trying to recognize famous Lithuanian personalities and local traditions from photos, and handed out end-of-season EuroLeague awards.
