Zalgiris Kaunas guard Tomas Dimsa, who was suffering from a shoulder injury for a long time, underwent a surgery at Gijos Klinikos on Thursday. He will miss at least 6 months without basketball.
Shoulder instability bothered Dimsa throughout last season. He also spent the summer with the Lithuanian men’s national basketball team, and after the end of the qualification tournament for the Olympic Games, he decided to resolve the persistent problems.
The two-hour shoulder surgery was performed at Gijos Klinikos by orthopaedic traumatologist Prof. Rimtautas Gudas.
Dimsa played 33 games in the EuroLeague last season, scoring 6.4 points, grabbing 1.5 rebounds and making 1.7 assists per game.
In the Betsafe-LKL Championship, he averaged 7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2 assists.
