Zalgiris Kaunas has become the Lithuanian Basketball League (Betsson LKL) champions for the 26th time.
After the trophy presentation ceremony, the Zalgiris players moved their celebration outdoors, where a crowd of thousands of fans was already waiting for them. We invite you to relive the emotions of Friday evening, which you can find on the Zalgiris YouTube channel.
Head coach Tomas Masiulis also thanked the fans gathered outside.
“Thank you all. It was truly great to see so many of you come to the final game. For us, this is the greatest recognition. Everything we achieved this year is thanks to you. Every single one of you was important, and we truly heard every clap and every cheer. Thank you very much,” said the coach.
Sylvain Francisco shared his love for Kaunas.
“You are my family. I don’t even know what to say, but I want to share one thing. Before joining Zalgiris, I didn’t pass the medical because of my knee issues, but all the staff helped me. If they hadn’t trusted me, I wouldn’t be here, so thank you very much. We never talk about this person, but Justinas helped us immensely. I would like to stay longer, but these two years have been amazing. One memory that will stay with me forever is the buzzer-beater against Rytas. I love you, thank you. Zalgiris forever,” said Francisco.
Later, Moses Wright also shared his emotions, while Dustin Sleva immediately delighted the fans gathered outside.
“I’ll be here for another two years. I love Lithuania. I’ve never played basketball at this level or had the chance to be with fans like these. Every time I walk in the city, I hear my chant. I’ve dreamed my whole career of having something like this, so I enjoy every moment with you and my teammates, they are amazing. Thank you, there’s more to come,” said Sleva.
Finally, Nigel Williams-Goss and Maodo Lo also thanked the fans, and the Zalgiris players lifted the trophy into the air once again. We invite you to watch the full video and relive the team’s celebration with their supporters.
