Zalgiris Kaunas (26-1) extended their winning streak in the Lithuanian Basketball League, as they defeated Gargzdai (11-16) at Zalgirio Arena 85-77 (34-31, 21-9, 14-22, 16-15).

Zalgiris opened the scoring through Azuolas Tubelis, Deividas Sirvydis, and Moses Wright, but Gargzdai responded behind a strong start from Jalon Pipkins. Despite Pipkins scoring 17 points in the quarter, Zalgiris finished the period on a strong run and took a narrow 34-31 lead.

Edgaras Ulanovas and Sylvain Francisco helped Zalgiris take control, while Tubelis and Laurynas Birutis dominated inside. Improved defense and efficient scoring allowed the hosts to outscore Gargzdai 21-9 in the quarter. Zalgiris went into halftime comfortably ahead, 55-40.

Zalgiris’ offense slowed after the break, and Gargzdai took advantage with a nine-point run that cut the deficit to single digits. Timely baskets from Sirvydis and free throws by Ulanovas helped stabilize the lead. After three quarters, Zalgiris remained in front, 69-62.

Strong defensive play continued to be the key for Zalgiris, even as scoring came at a slower pace. Wright scored six crucial points late, while Tubelis and Dovydas Giedraitis added baskets to seal the win. Zalgiris closed out the game with an 85-77 victory.

Francisco led balanced scoring with 15 points and 7 assists. Tubelis had 14 points and 8 rebounds.
