Playing without five of its starting players, Zalgiris Kaunas (19-1) secured another victory in the Lithuanian Basketball League. Tomas Masiulis’s team defeated Jonava Hipocredit (3-17) 97-90 (24-17, 24-22, 25-24, 24-25) at the Zalgirio Arena.
Edgaras Ulanovas started the game with free throws, Moses Wright and Ulanovas scored from under the basket, 6-8. Wright scored with a foul, and then Deividas Sirvydis added 10 points in a row, 19-13. Kajus Mikalauskas made two free throws, Arnas Butkevicius made one, and Mikalauskas connected on a jumper, 24-17.
Dustin Sleva opened the second quarter, but the visitors from Jonava briefly managed to take the lead, 26-27. Then Maodo Lo made a three-pointer, Wright collected 4 points, Sleva and Dovydas Giedraitis each scored a two-pointer from under the basket, 37-32. Ulanovas converted a hook shot, Sirvydis and Mantas Rubstavicius scored, and Sleva added 5 points, 48-39.
At the start of the third quarter, Ulanovas connected from long range, Rubstavicius scored free throws, and Sleva hit a three-pointer, 56-45. Lo, Butkevicius, and Sirvydis increased the lead, 62-47. Sirvydis made free throws, Giedraitis slipped under the basket, and Ignas Stombergas was in the right place with a putback, 68-55. Sirvydis scored his 19th point with a three-pointer and then lobbed the ball to Stombergas for a dunk, 73-63.
At the start of the fourth quarter, Wright dunked, Ulanovas and Wright were accurate from the free throw line, 80-67. Wright and Giedraitis scored two points each, Sleva made his free throws, 86-77. Rubstavicius scored from under the basket, Giedraitis made his free throws, Sirvydis added 4 points, and Rubstavicius closed the game with a three-pointer, 97-90.
As a conclusion, Sirvydis had a best game in Zalgiris jersey finishing with 23 points and 6 assists. Wright, Sleva and Ulanovas scored 15, 14 and 12 points respectively.
