Zalgiris Kaunas (28-1) continued their Lithuanian Basketball League campaign with a win at Zalgirio Arena, defeating Lietkabelis Panevezys (15-16) 87-70 (17-15, 26-19, 24-11, 20-25).
Dustin Sleva opened the game with five straight points. Arnas Butkevicius added four, while Maodo Lo attacked the basket to keep Zalgiris in front, 11-9. Mantas Rubstavicius drew a foul on a three-point attempt and converted all three free throws, before Lo added a three-pointer to close the first quarter, 17-15.
Ignas Brazdeikis and Laurynas Birutis contributed early in the second quarter, while Dovydas Giedraitis knocked down two three-pointers, 26-25. Deividas Sirvydis also scored from long range, and Sleva added more points inside. Late in the half, Sirvydis and Rubstavicius connected from deep, helping Zalgiris build a 43-34 lead at halftime.
Zalgiris took full control in the third quarter with strong scoring from Brazdeikis, Sirvydis, and Rubstavicius, 51-36. Birutis and Giedraitis added inside points, while Rubstavicius extended the lead to over 20 points with a three-pointer. The hosts finished the quarter strongly, leading 67-45.
In the fourth quarter, Butkevicius sparked the crowd with a three-pointer and a dunk after a steal, 72-49. Birutis and Sleva continued to score, maintaining a comfortable lead. Sirvydis and Dominykas Daubaris closed out the game, sealing an 87-70 victory for Zalgiris.
Sleva was the leading scorer with 20 points. Rubstavicius added 14 points, while Sirvydis finished with 12.
