Zalgiris Kaunas ended the week with a convincing victory in the Betsafe-LKL Championship. Andrea Trinchieri’s team defeated Siauliai – Casino Admiral 111-81 (29-25, 30-20, 24-20, 28-16).
Arnas Butkevicius started the game with eight consecutive points, Matt Mitchell and Sylvain Francisco made free throws, Laurynas Birutis scored, while Ignas Brazdeikis and Lonnie Walker IV hit a three-pointer apiece to make the score 19-16. Birutis and Alen Smailagic added two points each, while Edgaras Ulanovas and Lonnie Walker IV scored three points each, 29-25.
Lukas Lekavicius made a floater, Walker IV and Ulanovas scored four points each, and Deividas Sirvydis added 5 points to make it 44-32. Smailagic scored eight points in a row, Brady Manek added a three-pointer, and Mitchell and Mantas Juzenas had successful drives under the basket, 59-45.
After the break, Birutis and Mitchell converted free throws, Sirvydis scored a two-pointer, but the opponents reduced the difference, 65-55. Lekavicius scored five points in a row, Mitchell finished his raid to the free-throw line with points, while Smailagic made no mistakes in his free-throw shooting, Juzenas connected from long range, and at the end of the quarter Smailagic dunked it home, and a two-pointer was made by Sirvydis, 83-65.
Lekavicius and Manek each hit a three-pointer, Brazdeikis scored five points, and Birutis, who was having fun with his dunks, added nine, 103-77. Smailagic, Brazdeikis, Manek and Mitchell each scored two more points in the remaining time, 111-81.
Smailagic and Birutis scored 16 and 15 points respectively. Mitchell added 11 points, Brazdeikis and Walker IV had 10 points each.
