Zalgiris Kaunas defended the Citadele King Mindaugas Cup trophy. In the final in Vilnius, Andrea Trinchieri’s team defeated Neptunas Klaipeda 91-89 (21-25, 22-20, 25-24, 23-20).

Ignas Brazdeikis scored eight points early, Arnas Butkevicius added a three-pointer and a two-pointer, Bryant Dunston scored two points with a foul, Lonnie Walker IV hit a three-pointer and Alen Smailagic had a spectacular dunk to make it 21-25.

Then Sylvain Francisco scored eight points, Edgaras Ulanovas made a three-pointer and Smailagic sank a free throw to make it 34-38. Ulanovas added two more free throws, and Brazdeikis flashed seven more points, 43-45.

Laurynas Birutis finished an alley-oop, Ulanovas hit a two-pointer with a foul, Brazdeikis made a raid to the basket, but a fantastic shooting by the opponents gave them a double-digit lead, 50-63. Butkevicius and Brazdeikis responded with three-pointers, Francisco scored five points, Walker IV and Smailagic made layups, and at the end of the quarter Deividas Sirvydis connected from long range to make it 68-69.

In the final quarter, Smailagic and Sirvydis added four points each, Walker IV and Francisco hit three-pointers, Dunston scored four points, Ulanovas sank free throws, but with 25 seconds to play the opponents came in front again, 88-89. Sirvydis answered with a two-pointer with a foul, and the last shot of the game was missed, 91-89.

Brazdeikis scored 20 points, and was named the MVP of the Final Four. Francisco collected 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the win.
