Maodo Lo, who plays an important role in Zalgiris Kaunas’ guard rotation, will continue representing the club.
The 33-year-old World and European champion has signed a new deal that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2027-28 season, under a “1+1” contract structure.
During this EuroLeague season, Lo averaged 7 points, 2.4 assists, and a performance index rating of 7, while remaining a key rotation player capable of changing the course of games.
His standout performance of the season came in the final round of the EuroLeague regular season against Paris Basketball, where he scored 21 points, including 17 in the second quarter alone.
“Everything suits me here. My family really enjoys Kaunas, and we’ve settled in very well. It’s also a great city to live in with a family, which we experienced throughout the season, so we wanted to stay. Of course, the basketball side, our solid season, and the sense of continuity and ambition within this club motivate you to be part of such an organization. I’ve played for many clubs during my EuroLeague career, and I have to say that this club’s management is the best I’ve seen. Everyone here has a great attitude and are good people. I believe that’s a key factor and the foundation of strong results and team culture. The fans and the atmosphere are also the best I’ve experienced in my career. It’s a privilege to play basketball in such a crowd, environment, and culture,” said Lo.
Zalgiris president Paulius Jankunas also shared his thoughts on keeping Lo with the team.
“It’s very important to have a player like him in the rotation. Most importantly, he understands his role perfectly. He knows that he comes off the bench. It’s important to have players who fully embrace and execute their roles. The energy he brings off the bench, as well as giving our main players a chance to rest, is invaluable, and the coaches really appreciate it. I believe the fans see that as well,” commented Jankunas.
