In a tense EuroLeague Round 22 battle that went down to the final seconds, Zalgiris Kaunas fell just short losing to Maccabi Tel Aviv 97-100 on the road.

After a back-and-forth first half where both teams traded blows, Zalgiris went into halftime trailing by just three, 49-52.

Despite falling behind by double-digits in the third quarter, Kaunas’ team mounted a furious comeback in the final stages. A Sylvain Francisco three-pointer brought the team within 97-99 with just 7 seconds remaining, but after a Maccabi free throw, a costly turnover on the subsequent inbounds pass prevented a final chance to tie the game.

The loss drops Zalgiris record to 12-10 in the standings.

Sylvain Francisco was outstanding, leading all scorers with 22 points. Moses Wright delivered a powerful double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

For the hosts, Jimmy Clark, Roman Sorkin, and TJ Leaf each scored 17 points.
