Zalgiris Kaunas grabbed its fourth straight home win by outlasting Olympiacos Piraeus 99-94 after a double overtime in the EuroLeague Round 29 game at Zalgirio Arena.
A back-and-forth first half saw Olympiacos take a 37-39 cushion into halftime. The visitors opened the third quarter with a 9-2 run and maintained a 51-60 lead after 30 minutes, but Zalgiris responded with a 10-0 surge in the fourth and sent the game to overtime.
What followed was an exchange of blows before a missed triple by Tyler Dorsey saw the duel go to second overtime.
Then, Olympiacos started with a quick 5-0 run, when a bucket from Alec Peters was followed by a triple from Evan Fournier for an 82-87 lead early in the second overtime. But the hosts bounced back with an 8-2 run, as Sylvain Francisco drilled a triple and Nigel Williams-Goss added 5 points to his tally.
Maodo Lo hit another three, making it 93-89, but Fournier, who ended the game on a career-high 32 points, trimmed the deficit to a single point by scoring from deep.
Yet, Williams-Goss drilled his fourth triple of the night and split free throws to record a career-high 23 points, leading Zalgiris to victory against his former team.
The Lithuanian side protected its home court and improved its record to 17-12, while Olympiacos suffered its second straight road loss, dropping to 18-10.
Williams-Goss and Francisco paced Zalgiris with 23 points each, while Moses Wright paired his 14 points with a career-high 13 rebounds and Lo netted 15.
Fournier led all scorers with a career-high 32 points, with Dorsey scoring 16 and Tyrique Jones bagging 14 in a losing effort.
