Zalgiris Kaunas wrapped up another week with a victory on Sunday evening, overcoming the challenge posed by Siauliai, 94-65. After the game, head coach Tomas Masiulis shared his thoughts.
“First of all, I think the final score doesn’t reflect the real battle on the court. Siauliai really fought hard and didn’t give us anything easy. We hit some tough three-pointers as well. Of course, we’re happy that we managed to rest some of our players, more or less according to plan. We took the win and move forward,” Masiulis summarized.
The coach also spoke about the strong work done by Siauliai’s coach, Darius Songaila.
“It doesn’t surprise me – it’s a well‑coached team. Darius is doing a good job, and you can see they have clear ideas about how they want to attack and defend. I believe they’ll deliver quite a few surprises this season,” he noted.
Masiulis also expressed joy over Majus Bulanovas’ debut in the top Lithuanian league.
“We’re happy for every player who comes up from the reserves and scores. We had him with us before the season and saw that he can bring us something. It’s just that we have many players in his position, and we need more big men. Today the opportunity was half‑open for him. We’re also watching Jokubas Rudaitis — they both deserve a chance, and we’re happy for them,” Masiulis said.
This Tuesday, Zalgiris will return to EuroLeague action, hosting Bayern Munich in Kaunas.
